Warranty Conditions
The following problems are covered under our One Year Plumbing Warranty:
- Leaks due to lack of glue around fittings – Drain lines and water lines.
- Cracks or punctures in pipes or fittings due to manufactured defects – Drain lines and water lines.
- Leaking faucets – Lavatory faucets, Kitchen faucet, Tub/Shower Faucets, Outside hose bibs.
*Note: We will repair, but the Contractor will be billed for repairs of any faucets leaking due to sand in the cartridge, as this is a faulty installation issue, not a warranty covered item.
- Leaking wax rings around toilets.
- Tub drains not holding water and or not releasing water.
The following items are NOT covered under our One Year Plumbing Warranty
- Frozen Pipes – Pipes that break due to cold temperatures. The homeowner must take precautions to prevent frozen pipes during severely cold weather like removing outside hoses from sill cocks (hose bibs), draining system, turning water off to the house, and closing vents under the house. Under no circumstances will frozen pipes or sill cocks be considered for warranty.
- “Smelly Water” – Many homeowners complain about “smelly water”, a rotten egg smell coming from the hot water heater. This problem is the result of the annoy rod in the water heater reacting with a nontoxic sulfate reducing bacteria. The customer can do one of three things: 1). Replace the annoy rod with an aluminum annoy rod, which may or may not take care of the problem 2). Remove the rod from the hot water heater, which will void all warranty on the hot water heater or 3). Chlorinate the hot water heater. This is a common problem within several locations and we cannot assume responsibility for curing water quality problems. If the customer decides to change to the aluminum annoy rod and or chlorinate the water heater the customer will be billed for the labor and material. Charles Messina Plumbing & Electric Company shall not assume responsibility if the aluminum rod and or chlorination procedure does not cure the customer’s “smelly water” problem.
- Low Water Pressure – Charles Messina Plumbing & Electric Co., Inc. does not cover faucets that have poor water flow. This problem is due to sand from the well traveling through the pipes and then up into the faucet, in effect the sand gets caught in the cartridge and restricts water pressure. This problem can occur over months or can occur as little as a few days after water is turned on in the house. Labor will be billed to the contractor if we must travel to the job to clean cartridges.
- Toilet Adjustments – If the flapper is warped due to chemicals being put into the tank the customer will be billed for our labor. If sand and debris (from the well) are in the ball cock causing it to leak the contractor will be billed for our labor. We urge the customer to take the initiative to troubleshoot the
“leaking tank” to find what is causing the leak, the round black float (maintains water level), the ball cock (the object to the left side of the tank), or the seal (at the bottom of the tank – seals the water in the tank).
- Blemishes & Stains in Fiberglass and Porcelain Units Charles Messina Plumbing & Electric Co., Inc. shall not be responsible for the fiberglass units & porcelain fixtures after they are set. Many elements come in contact with fiberglass units (spackle, nail, paint, etc.) during the construction process and in effect we will not replace or fix any fiberglass unit or porcelain fixture after it has been inspected and set by our plumbers and or your supervisor. Stains in porcelain & fiberglass units will not be considered as a warranty item, Charles Messina Plumbing & Electric Co., cannot warranty fixtures (toilets, shower units, vanity bowls) against stain. Common problems like rust stains develop in the units due to the rust in the water and well, C.M.P.E. will not take the responsibility for fixing or replacing stained units.
